Josefa was born on February 16th, 1872.  Josefa's father was Jose Clavier (Rojas) and her mother was Luisa Sanchez (Castro).  Her paternal grandparents were Jose Clavier (Firulet) and Amparo  Rojas (Fernandez); her maternal grandparents were Jose Antonio Sanchez and Petronila  Castro (Sabino). She had five brothers and five sisters, named Jose, Jose, Jose, Antonio, Pedro, Luisa, Maria, Maria , Luisa and Angela.  She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
