Edgar's father was Juan Rafael Clavier (Perez) and his mother was Clara Mercedes Benitez (Arocha).  His paternal grandparents were Pedro Rafael Clavier (Sanchez) and Rosadela Perez (Rojas); his maternal grandparents were Juan Benitez and Angela Arocha. He has three brothers and a sister, named Juan , Hernan, Leonardo and Irma.
